Crowded Camper – American Pale Ale
Brewery: Northwinds Brewing, Collingwood, ON
Beer: Crowded Camper
Style: American Pale Ale
Crowded Camper pours a hazy amber colour with blood orange hue and an off-white foam with a decent retention, leaving nice spotted lacing and a 3 mm foam ring inside the glass. The first thing I got on the nose was a biscuity sweetness combined with brown sugar and light caramel. Hints of Fresh green grass are detectable, too. Very mild spicy notes are coming out, but more like baking spices, especially bourbon vanilla sugar mixed with nutmeg. Traces of orange peel and raisin.
On the palate, this pale ale offers biscuity and caramel flavours, followed by tangerine-like marmalade, ripe blood orange, and ripe stone fruit. Crowded Camper is showing a mix of sweet, spicy and resinous character. Moderate grainy character supports the medium hop impact. This beer has a medium body with lively carbonation, but an overall smooth mouthfeel. Moderate to high hop bitterness with a moderately dry finish. Bitterness lingers into the finish, but the aftertaste is not too harsh, making it very easy and pleasant to drink.
Hickory smoked almonds and dry roasted peanuts.
Nibbled on this mouth-watering Smoked Pork Loin. The sweetness from the Beer contrasts the smokiness from the meat, enhancing the smoky flavour.
