Strawberry rum cake
For this quick and easy strawberry rum cake with a ready-made crust you will need:
200 gr White flour
300 gr sugar
3 spoons vanilla sugar (or 2 bags)
250 gr butter or margarine
1 teaspoon rum
1 pack of ready-made crust for cakes (you can buy these at Balkan stores)
1. For the filling: Mix the flour with 3-4 dl of milk into a smooth paste. Pour the rest of the milk in a pot with sugar and vanilla sugar, and heat in on a medium temperature. Stat adding the flour slowly and cook until it thickens, approx. 20 min. Let it cool down.
2. Whisk the butter with rum and add it to the cooled down flour filling.
3. Cut the strawberries into thin slices.
4. This ready-made crust has 4 layers. Spread the mix over the first layer and arrange the strawberries. Repeat with the second and third layer. When you get to the fourth layer, spread a bit of the filling – just enough to cover the layer. Pour the rest into a small container and keep it in the fridge. Cover with foil and put something heavy on top (a baking pan, a book…). Keep it like that for 1 to 2 hours. Remove the pan, spread the rest of the filling, cover with stretch foil and keep in the fridge. It’s best to make the cake a day in advance. It’s so easy to cut it and even easier to eat it! 🙂
